FIFA has decided to clamp down on the hoarding of players by some of the biggest and wealthiest clubs in the world.

The world football's governing body has announced new loan regulations that would cap the number of international loans in and out of football clubs.

Starting from the next season, a club can only make eight loan transfers in and eight loan transfers out for the players over 21 years old.

The total will drop to seven players for the 2023-24 season and to six for the 2024-25 campaign and beyond.

As mentioned before, players aged 21 and younger will not count under the cap. The same goes for the club-trained players.

Liverpool will not be hit too heavy by the regulations. As it stands, they have only three players — Ben Davies, Ben Woodburn and Sheyi Ojo — over the age of 21 out on loan. Woodburn is the only one of them to play outside the English football pyramid, at Scottish Premiership side Hearts.
