Liverpool miss out on transfer bonuses as Xherdan Shaqiri leaves Lyon after just 6 months

MLS club Chicago Fire have officially confirmed that Xherdan Shaqiri has joined them on a permanent move from Lyon.

The Swiss international left Liverpool for the French side only in August but failed to impress coach Peter Bosz.

The Reds agreed to sell Shaqiri to Lyon for an initial fee of €6 million, but the deal also included some bonuses that could amount to an extra €5 million.

Unfortunately, those bonuses aren't likely to be paid: Shaqiri played fewer than 1000 minutes for Lyon across 16 games, scoring twice and providing three assists.

In fact, Lyon even managed to get some profit on the deal as they sold the 30-year-old for €7 million.
