Hopefully Van Dijk will continue making the likes of Maupay miserable this weekend and keep the Reds goal closed for business.

Van Dijk is yet to suffer a defeat at Anfield in the Premier League as a Liverpool player, so these are clearly some rare feelings for him. No doubt, then, that he'll be up for it in the next games - even though the next three matches are away from home.

Fans' anger is misplaced to some extent as it was 

 poor pass that was intercepted by an Inter player, that left him way out of position. Martinez then got on the ball and fired home from range. 

Van Dijk was left exposed by Matip in the situation and chose to hold his ground and let Lautaro take him on.

Martinez took the shot on early, rather than get into a 1v1 against VVD that he would probably lose, like he did in the 1st leg.
