Ibrahima Konate suffered an injury during the friendly against Strasbourg and is expected to be out indefinitely with no return date set yet.
Konate is Liverpool's third-choice centre-back and his injury will change the club's transfer plans for Nathaniel Phillips, Jurgen Klopp confirmed.
The gaffer said in his recent press conference: "It [Konate's injury] will influence the outgoing transfers."
Phillips will likely be the fourth choice at the position, with Joe Gomez taking Konate's place in the pecking order.
It is not known if Phillips will be sold in January but he is almost certain to not leave the club this month now, James Pearce confirms.
