Roberto Firmino – 9
Bobby looked a bit shaky in the first 30 minutes, but hit another gear when the pressure rose. Scored a sweet tap-in from close range for the first and produced an excellent dummy before his second. Always alert in the box and showed shades of his old.
Alisson – 8
If it wasn’t for Alisson, Liverpool would’ve definitely lost the match. He was a rock in between the goal, producing one clutch save after another. Kept his head up even after conceding a few and ensured his side didn’t concede after that.
Mo Salah – 7
The Egyptian was probably Liverpool’s most consistent attacking threat through the game. Kept troubling the Brighton backline and helped set up Firminos first with a lovely lay-off. Bit unlucky not to score after a hard-working, efficient display.
Thiago – 7
In a game where Liverpool’s other midfielders looked wonky, Thiago kept himself composed. The Spaniard was slick and smart with his forward passing, creating a couple of chances and moving things around well. Won 9 duels in a sturdy outing.
Virgil van Dijk – 4
The centre-back struggled against Brighton’s quick attacks and inter-changing attackers. Caught out of position and looking clueless for a couple of goals, especially the third in which he allowed the cross to go past him too easily.
Jordan Henderson – 4
Henderson struggled to operate as a leader and was outmanuevered throughout the game. Allowed Brighton to get past his midfield too easily for the two goals and struggled to help his side control the game. Created a few chances, including for the Firmino first goal, but looked weary.
Trent dropped an absolute shocker. Brighton targeted his side and he crumbled. At fault for almost all of the goals, as they were created through that side. Struggled to create chances and had a late free-kick saved. Poor outing after the break.
