Sepp van den Berg suffers horror ankle injury during Schlake loan, set to be out until next year

Liverpool youngster Sepp van den Berg has made his way into the starting XI at Schalke after the Bundesliga side took him on loan.

However, in his fourth game as a starter, the Dutchman suffered a serious ankle ligament injury.

Van den Berg was stretchered off the pitch after 53 minutes in Schlake's 3-2 defeat to Augsburg.

"We know it’s definitely something serious," Schalke technical director Rouven Schroder told Voetbal International. "It may be a fracture. That would be a big blow to us."

It's now been reported that Van den Berg is set to be out of action at least until the turn of the year.
