FA launch appeal after Jurgen Klopp avoids ban for red card vs Man City

The FA has confirmed they will appeal the decision of the independent regulatory commission to fine Jurgen Klopp £30,000 for his red card in the Man City game.

Klopp was sent off after ranting at the assistant referee for failing to spot an obvious foul by Bernardo Silva on Mohamed Salah.

The FA feel that the punishment was too lenient and does not reflect the severity of the issue, with the officials suffering threatening behaviour from managers on all levels of the football pyramid.

"The FA can confirm that it is appealing against the independent Regulatory Commission's sanction in relation to the recent case involving Jurgen Klopp after reviewing its written reasons," the FA said in a statement, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

"The independent Regulatory Commission fined Jurgen Klopp £30,000 for breaching FA Rule E3 during Liverpool FC's Premier League game on Sunday 16 October 2022 against Manchester City FC."

In the wake of the incident, many pundits suggested that Klopp should get a lengthy ban to be an example to those who will dare to act towards match officials in the way the Liverpool boss did.
