Mane to travel to World Cup contrary to previous reports, could face Van Dijk in group stage

Contrary to initial reports about his injury, Sadio Mane has received a call-up to the Senegal squad for the World Cup.

The ex-Liverpool forward picked up a tendon injury in Bayern's game against Werder Bremen this week, but it turned out to be not as serious as feared.

It's not clear if Mane will be fit to play in the first game of the competition for Senegal.

If he is, Sadio is set to face his former teammate Virgil van Dijk as Senegal start their World Cup campaign with a game against the Netherlands on November 21. Van Dijk has also been officially confirmed as a part of the Dutch side.
