Salzburg confirm Okafor could leave after World Cup – 2 clubs rival Liverpool for striker

"Okafor really took off last year," Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund was quoted by Sky Germany.

"I hope he plays a good World Cup, then the stock [for] Noah Okafor can become very interesting.

"I don't rule it out [Okafor leaving in January]," he added.

Manchester City and AC Milan are the two teams who could rival Liverpool for the Switzerland striker.

Okafor's age, pace and ability to finish off half-chances are attributes that could help him excel at a club like Liverpool.

Injury to Diogo Jota and a lack of backup to Salah, Firmino and Nunez make Okafor almost a necessity ahead of the business end of a long season.

However, it remains to be seen if FSG will be willing to splash out nearly £40m on the 22-year-old.
