'No words to describe': Darwin Nunez reacts to his World Cup debut

What's more, the two goalscorers seem to be getting along pretty well and complementing each other on the pitch, providing a double threat.

Liverpool Echo has estimated how effective Salah's partnerships with his fellow Liverpool attackers have been over the years, using the expected goals (xG) any single partnership has generated together.

For example, Salah and Roberto Firmino have combined for 0.169 xG per 90 together. This figure rises for Salah's partnership with Diogo Jota (0.172), Xherdan Shaqiri and Sadio Mane (both 0.173), as well as Philippe Coutinho (0.178) and Daniel Sturridge (0.179).

It's off the chart with Salah and Nunez, though, who have 0.363 expected goals every 90 minutes, more than double what any of the previous pairings.

Of course, the sample size is really small here: they've played together only for 801 minutes, or less than nine full 90-minute games. Still, it bodes well for both of them going forward.
