Liverpool U18s held on to a 1-0 win over Port Vale in their FA Youth Cup 4th round this evening.
Midfielder Michael Laffey scored the all important first-half goal for the Reds which was enough to see them through to the last-16 of the Cup.
There was more good news for the Liverpool youth set up as Barry Lewtas' U21s beat PSG 4-2 in the Premier League International Cup.
Having been recalled from his loan to Austria Wien, Billy Koumetio showed his class with a brace for the U21s, including a goal from inside his own half.
Luke Chambers and Oludare Olufunwa scored the other two goals to seal the victory but PSG scored a couple of late consolation goals that are bound to sting Barry Lewtas.
