When Liverpool signed Calvin Ramsay from Arbedeen last summer for a reported fee of €5m, he was heralded as a player who can serve as a quality backup for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
The Scottish defender arrived with an injury that needed time to heal, he recovered around September last year and went on to feature twice for the Liverpool senior team - in the Champions League and Premier League.
But Ramsay has not played for Jurgen Klopp's team in their last eight matches. He appeared on the bench in the league cup game against Manchester City.
On January 8th, Ramsay played for Liverpool's under-21s and was shown a red card after 22 minutes. He played again for the under-21s last weekend and completed the full 90 minutes in Liverpool's 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Reports suggest that the 19-year-old could be loaned out to Swansea City to gain first-team experience before returning to continue his Liverpool career.
At the moment it looks like Klopp isn't totally convinced with the teenager just yet. Thus, Trent's backup will remain the veteran James Miner as we saw against Chelsea.
