Liverpool's potential money losses if they miss out on top four: broken down

Liverpool are currently sixth in the Premier League table - so it's not impossible that they miss out on the Champions League for the first time since the 2016/17 season.

Along with other setbacks, it's going to hurt Liverpool financially: participating in other European competitions is nowhere near as lucrative as performing in the Champions League.

For example, this season, despite exiting the tournament after the Round of 16, Liverpool earned £26.4 million from their run.

The earning would've grown exponentially had Liverpool progressed further. The Champions League winner might bank up to £85.1 million.

If Liverpool miss out on the top four, they're not getting any of it, including the £15.64 million they'd receive just for qualifying.

Of course, the Reds could qualify for the Europa League or the Conference League.

However, their maximum earnings in those competitions would be £23.4m (less than what they earned in the Champions League this season) and £15.5m (less than what the Champions League qualification earns), respectively.
