Prevented goals stat puts Alisson's importance to Liverpool in perspective

Alisson has been one of the very few Liverpool players this season who can hold his head high despite the Reds' poor results.

According to an Opta stat, the Brazilian has prevented 10.6 goals — in other words, Liverpool are expected to have conceded 10 or 11 more goals in the Premier League than they did.

The prevented goals stat is calculated by subtracting the number of goals a keeper has conceded from the number of goals a keeper would be expected to concede based on the quality of shots he faced.

Negative goals prevented score means a keeper has conceded more goals he was expected to concede.
