Paul Mitchell 'out of running' for Liverpool sporting director job, could take over at Premier League rivals

Liverpool's links with Paul Mitchell as the potential next sporting director have not lasted long after he announced his departure from Monaco.

According to the Liverpool Echo and the Independent, the Englishman is out of running for the job at Anfield - even though Liverpool did hold some talks with him.

In fact, Mitchell is reportedly the man identified as a potential Man United director by one of the bidders, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

As for Liverpool, they will keep looking for someone to replace Julian Ward who will leave at the end of the season.
