OFFICIAL: Liverpool to play in Europa League next season

Liverpool won't participate in next season's Champions League and will instead compete in the Europa League.

This followed Man United's victory over Chelsea on Thursday. The Red Devils moved to third position with 72 points, two above Newcastle.

Meanwhile Liverpool are fourth with 66 points and irrespective of what happens on the final match day, Jurgen Klopp's side will finish in that position.

It would mark a return to the continent's second biggest club competition for the first time since the 2015/16 season. Liverpool have won the trophy thrice (1973, 1976 and 2001).

Klopp's side were beaten finalist in 2016.

No complaints from me. We didn't deserve to be in the Champions League anyway and it's a minor miracle that we even managed to finish in the top 8. I cannot wait until Sunday when this god-damned wretched season, with way more lows than highe,is finally over and we can forget it ever happened. SERIOUS CHANGES NEEDED.

not buying has cost us. FSG done a lot for rhe club but no ambition. no desire to buy any big players. that jude 1 made us look stupid. we should be buying him AND another 3 or 4 players.

Facts I can't agree with this 100% at the end of the day Europa League isn't the end of the world. Sure it isn't where we wanna be but the whole club doesn't want to be where it's at right now. Not a good season but can't wait for the next one mate!

Chef I started looking forward to next season after the first three games. We were supposed to be the main title challengers and even at that early stage I knew it was gonna be an absolute shite season....I'm not saying I have a crystal ball or anything but for some reason I just knew. I actually wouldn't have been too upset if we had no Europe at all (despite the financial implications) next season because then we could focus solely on the league and the domestics instead of having to play every other Thursday night. But we're there, so we'll just go for it. Next season can't come soon enough.

Why should they when they are now worth $10Bn (billion with a B). Those billions came from somewhere, and they sure were not worth that much when they acquired us.

We have nothing but building contractors as flipping owners. FSG wouldn't know the difference between rugby goal posts and football goal posts much less the cross bar. they also believe Klopps a magician that he can win trophies without cash. all they're interested in is increasing capacity at Anfield which is a good thing. but isn't a good thing when they sacrifice replenishing the team..

It wouldn't feel right without the Merseyside derby. It would feel even less right not having the opportunity and the enjoyment of beating them.

I don't think the BS will go down, I honestly think it'll be Leeds and Leicester. But I have friends and family who are blues so it would be bad for our city if they do go down. Besides, bar beating the scum 5, 6 or 7 nil, it's the sweetest 6 pts a season you can get for me. 👍
