Andy Carroll trending among Liverpool fans 10 years after Anfield exit — here's why

Many Liverpool fans are talking about Andy Carroll today. The striker left the club ten years ago, in 2013, without leaving much of a mark on the club — so what's the deal?

The thing is, the Reds paid £35m back in 2011 to sign Carroll. Now they're reportedly paying the same amount to land Alexis Mac Allister.

And with all respect to Andy, but he's not a World Cup winner joining in his prime years — so mentioning him show how much of a coup the Reds have made by signing Mac Allister.

Here are a few takes from Twitter.

The Immortal Kop: "The same price as Andy Carroll, I am in tears"

Corbally Red: "To put the 35 million fee for MacAllister in perspective we paid 35 million for Andy Carroll 12 years ago.

"There can be no Liverpool fan criticising the MacAllister transfer looking at the fee we are paying. 35 million is the 00s 5 million"

Joshua Wilkins: "How on earth. We paid that for Andy Carroll and that was about 12 years ago."

AJ_FM3391: "Andy Carroll was 35m, how times have changed at this club."
