Everton's 10-point deduction reduced, Sean Dyche's men climb up Premier League standings

Everton have had their 10-point Premier League deduction reduced to six.

The Toffees now feel a bit more secure in the survival battle, climbing to 15th place with a five-point advantage over Luton Town who are yet to play this matchday, however.

Here are some of the best reactions to the news.

💭 MrWallis: "It would be like Everton to now go into 1005 freefall and get relegated anyway :)"

💭 Stones_Throw_Away (Reddit): "This kills Luton."

💭 Andrew Williams (X): "Everton win appeals. Liverpool win cups."

💭 MajikoiA3When (Reddit): "Still waiting for the -1150 point deduction for City, but we'll never see that."

Everton allegedly breached the league's profitability and sustainability rules in the 2021/22 season. Their appeal has been partially successful. However, they could still face another deduction as there is a second investigation ongoing.

Liverpool take on Everton at Goodison Park on March 17.

So in effect, Neverton have been given with one hand, & can possibly taken with the other again. A contradiction in terms if you will. The inequality displayed here, is incomprehensible. Shitty will be scoffing at this news. With the exceptionally rare chance that they will be bought to book for their misgivings, effectively then, there is every chance that they will be refunded said points. What an absolute farce the Premier league has become. Its beyond embarrassing 😳 😫 😩

Totally agree Mike, pgmol have showed their weak and can’t stand up for themselves against a club admitting their own failures with FFP…. 10 points seemed fair amount to me, not being biased

I'll second that Turner lad👍10 points was about right. A big kick in the cruds for Luton though. They'll almost certainly go back down now. Then again, their fans were chanting vile shit about us, so maybe it's a case of poetic justice ⚖️ 🤔

The BS had two things going for them with there appeal. One, they have fully cooperated with the PL during its investigation and two, the strongest points deduction that is given is for going into administration, which is 9pts. That's the reason they have had it reduced. Obviously shitty being the blatantly and easily provable corrupt organisation that it is, has not only refused to cooperate with the PL but has actively put obstacles in the way of the PL and their investigators. If (and its a fucking massive IF) they are held to account for there many, many, many provable crimes, then I doubt there would be any grounds for the punishment to be reduced as they have never cooperated since day 1 of the investigation. Shitty should be EXPELLED from the PL and never allowed to be back in it ever again.

A great breakdown of this whole debarcle Saint, as per usual. But as you & I well know, and you've already stated, they will never be held to account. It will just get longed out indefinitely. It's truly outrageous, it beggars belief 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤬🖕

Yeah, the corruption in our game since they took over is staggering. The sad thing is that as its now just accepted (due to a corrupt establishment from the government down), they don't even try to hide it anymore. They are corrupt in plain sight. And if anyone needs proof, don't you think it's odd that not one UK media outlet has highlighted that although they readily admit that PGMOL officials are "incompetent" at best, they never shine a light on the fact that shitty have never been "victims" of this incompetence. How many rightful goals have shitty had chalked off? How many blatant pens have shitty been denied? How many shitty players have been sent off incorrectly, how many apologies have shitty received from PGMOL? The answer to all these questions is ZERO. It's not incompetence, it's blatant and provable corruption. 😒

Yep, for sure mate👍. It's definitely a low blow as far as they are concerned 😟 😨. They've done remarkably well, considering they are by far the most financially strapped team in the PL. They have more than held their own with the big hitters. Who knows for sure, though 🤔. Fate yet might deal them a helping hand, but I certainly wouldn't bet on it.
