Slot: 'I hope I will be allowed to leave Liverpool the same way Klopp is leaving'

Jurgen Klopp had an emotional farewell at Liverpool last weekend after his last game in charge. Celebrations of his nine-year tenure were held at Anfield and a lot of tributes poured in, from players, legends and rivals.

Arne Slot, who has been confirmed as the Reds' next head coach, was also given an emotional send-off by Feyenoord.

The Dutchman reflected in his last interview with Feyenoord's media team: "Yes, I am already privileged but then I would be really very privileged and the fun or funny thing is that I succeed a coach [Klopp[, perhaps in terms of status, or maybe I am sure one who has reached much bigger status at the club where he has worked for the past nine years.

"So, so I hope I will be allowed to leave in the same [way] as he is leaving now or that I left here (Feyenoord) but there must be an incredible lot of [things] going well to be able to work that.

"Without having to come across as arrogant of course [Liverpool] is not the first club to join [the race] that has been reported in the past three years. That's the advantage of performing well that there are clubs interested in you.

"So then you gradually hit [form] and that used to sound arrogant but also [I am] used to [being] followed by that club that you couldn't have dreamed of four or five years ago.

"So yes that is especially nice and a privilege that you [come] from AZ, which was also a nice club too and the Feyenoord and then also to Liverpool, that's awesome. All the more because I also think we will have a great group of players to work with."
