Diogo Jota goal in Portugal Euro 2024 win over Czechia ruled out — Cristiano Ronaldo to blame

Diogo Jota was the latest Liverpool player to debut at Euro 2024 as he came off the bench in Portugal's game against Czechia.

The forward was introduced with his team 1-0 down, but Portugal managed to equalise minutes later.

In the final minutes of the match, Jota thought he scored the winner as he headed the ball in after Cristiano Ronaldo's initial shot hit the post.

However, the goal was ruled out after a VAR check due to Ronaldo's offside seconds before.

Portugal still won the game due to an even later goal from Francisco Conceicao.

Vitezslav Jaros, the Liverpool goalkeeper who won the double with Sturm Graz on loan last season, spent the game on Czechia's bench.
