'It's a shame': Mac Allister reveals what Klopp told him at German's Liverpool farewell

“Everything works well, it’s not a club with big egos and everyone tries to help you in whatever way they can,” Alexis Mac Allister told Argentine news outlet TyC Sports, as quoted by DaveOckop.

“On the pitch everything is different, because outside everything can be very nice, but you have to perform inside. I’ve had to play in several positions and I enjoyed it a lot, I’m happy to be at a club as big as Liverpool.

“At one point we [he and Klopp] gave each other a hug and he told me that ‘it was a shame that we had only shared a year.' But he gave me a lot of confidence for everything that is coming.

“He told me what I knew, which was that I was at the right club to continue growing.”

Mac Allister joined Liverpool on a bargain £35m fee from Brighton in the summer of 2023. He quickly established himself as one of the key players at Anfield.

The 2022 World Cup winner featured in a no. 6 role before moving to a more advanced position, impressing pretty much everywhere in his first season at Anfield.
