Liverpool's 16-year-old newcomer already trains with U21 side — and Federico Chiesa
Liverpool U21 head coach Barry Lewtas spoke about involving the academy's new signing Rio Ngumoha days after the 16-year-old completed a switch from Chelsea.
"It's a nice introduction for Rio," Lewtas said. "It's a chance for him to get to know the U21 players and an opportunity to train as well with the first-team staff.
"Getting to know people as soon as you come is really useful because it helps you settle, it makes you more familiar and it gives you that grounding."
As a bonus, one of Ngumoha's first training sessions with the U21 side also included Federico Chiesa who joined them as part of his individual fitness program.
"Obviously with Federico, we've done this a number of times now [where] we'll bring boys round, and it gives him a chance to build his fitness and get him ready for the season as well," Lewtas added.
Liverpool and Chelsea are yet to agree on compensation for Ngumoha who was viewed as one of the brightest academy players at the London club.
