Chelsea reportedly in line to hijack Man United's move for Kai Havertz

Manchester United's move for Kai Havertz may be in jeopardy with Chelsea reportedly keen on leapfrogging ahead, reports ESPN.

The Blues recently beat Liverpool to get close to signing their long-term target Timo Werner.

And it is believed that they may try something similar with Havertz, who has been linked with United for quite some time.

To sign the Bayer Leverkusen ace, a fee in excess of £70m would be sufficient and Chelsea are willing to part with the required sum.

The report adds that club boss Frank Lampard values Havertz's versatility and wants to add to his attacking ranks in the next transfer window.

Meanwhile, the promising attacker's contract with Bayer expires in 2022 but sporting director Simon Rolfes has indicated that he may leave before that.
