- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given 8 Man United youth academy players their first-team debuts this season, the most by any United manager since Sir Matt Busby set the record in the 1952/53 campaign.
- The Norwegian managed to match this record after handing young defender Teden Mengi his first-team debut in the last few minutes during the 2-1 win over LASK Linz.
- Sir Matt created the “Busby Babes” by handing first-team debuts to the likes of Duncan Edwards, Tommy Taylor, Bill Foulkes and David Pegg in that campaign.
- Solskjaer gave a majority of youngsters their senior debuts during our (only) Europa League loss against Astana in the group stages.
