• Alexander had informed the club of his decision to quit, with the club having won just 2 out of 5 games in this season so far.
• Scholes has had a brief and somewhat disappointing spell as the manager of Oldham Athletic but it'll be interesting to see how he fares this time - albeit temporarily.
• The former Man United star is the co-owner of Salford City, who are placed 5th in the League Two at present.
