United youngster Charlie McNeil forced to apologize for ‘disrespectful’ comments towards Liverpool

After starring in Man United U18s win over Salford City in the FA Youth Cup, Charlie McNeil spoke to MUTV about the next game against arch-rivals Liverpool and said: “We will look to go all the way in this competition and in the next round, we will play Liverpool if they win, which is obviously a derby and an amazing game to play in.

“It's a derby like I said and it would be great to win that game and rub it in their faces as well.”

However, that last bit of the interview seemingly ‘offended’ too many people, with McNeil being forced to apologize for his comments on social media.

He wrote on Instagram: “I just wanted to say my interview last night I said a thing I probably shouldn't have said and I wasn't trying to be disrespectful to anyone. I have learnt from my mistake and will take this on into the future.”

McNeil has been on fire for United’s youth teams this season, scoring against Liverpool & Man City and even kissing the Red Devils badge after scoring against the Citizens. The 17-year-old has 15 goals in as many appearances this season, but it seems he’ll have to be careful with his words not to ‘offend’ anyone going forward.
