Option 1: Slight change to last week’s team
Considering how well Man United’s line-up performed against AS Roma in the 6-2 demolition last week, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could opt to go for a similar team on Thursday.
Eric Bailly should get a well-deserved start after signing a new long-term deal with the club and allow some rest for Victor Lindelof.
Option 2: Van de Beek gets a start
Having last started a game for Man United in the FA Cup quarter-final loss to Leicester City, it’s high time Donny van de Beek started a game for the Red Devils. He could easily play with Scott McTominay in a midfield pivot and help Bruno Fernandes in creating chances too.
Marcus Rashford should be moved to the left-wing for this, even if that means resting Paul Pogba. Dan James could be played due to his defensive strengths and Ole can also opt to rest Edinson Cavani & keep him fresh for the Aston Villa game – instead starting Mason Greenwood upfront.
