'My first position to buy would be centre-back': Ferdinand wants Man United to forget about Kane

Speaking to Goal about the upcoming window, Rio Ferdinand said: "Harry Kane would be nice wouldn't it. But my first position to buy would be centre-back.

"Manchester United need to recruit well in this window in the right areas. I think they need a centre-back, a right winger and maybe even a centre-forward."

Kane continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford although it's suggested that the England captain will most likely end up at Manchester City if he leaves Tottenham this summer.

It's speculated that the Red Devils will have a budged of about £150 million to spend this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to compete in the Premier League and the Champions League next season.

Man United are tracking several centre-backs, including Real Madrid's Raphael Varane, Villarreal's Pau Torres and Sevilla's Jules Kounde while signing a no.9 is not a priority given Edinson Cavani's one-year contract extension.
