Mata ‘offered one-year contract extension’ - viewed as future sporting director by United

Man United have offered Juan Mata a new one-year contract with a wage reduction, as per Spanish outlet Sport.

It’s said that the Red Devils admire his personality and understand that the Spaniard perfectly knows the club’s philosophy as well as the work dynamics.

United view Mata as a future board member and possibly in a sporting director role in the future after 2022.

The Spaniard is said to be at risk of losing £70,000 of his weekly wages in his new contract, with the Red Devils offering him a £100,000-a-week contract.

Mata made 18 appearances for United last season – scoring 3 goals and registering 3 assists across all competitions.
