'They helped me out a lot': Wan-Bissaka names his closest friends at United

“When I finally did meet up with the squad. I was worried they might look down on me, you know, coming from a “smaller” team,” Aaron Wan-Bissaka told The Players Tribune when talking about how he felt upon joining Man United.

“This is the club of Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, David de Gea. Superstars. But really it was the opposite. Everyone was so nice and welcoming, making sure I was OK.

“I struck up a bond with guys like Axel Tuanzebe, he’s from the Congo too and he helped me a lot at the beginning. So did players like Marcus, Mason [Greenwood] and Brandon [Williams].

“There’s a good group of boys around my age. We’re close. There’s also plenty of French speakers in the dressing room. I just need to learn Spanish now!”

Wan-Bissaka has enjoyed his time at United since arriving from Crystal Palace in 2019 and been one of the most consistent players in the squad over the last few seasons.

However, the young right-back could get some competition for his place in the squad in the upcoming campaign – with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly wanting to sign a new right-back to help create more competitiveness within the squad.
