Porstmouth fire 3 academy players over racially abusing Rashford and Sancho

League One side Portsmouth have confirmed that they have released three academy players who were caught racially abusing Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Bukayo Saka after England’s Euro 2020 final loss to Italy.

They said: “Portsmouth Football Club can confirm that the investigation – and subsequent disciplinary process – into discriminatory messages that originated from an academy U18 private group chat has now concluded.

“We can confirm that a decision has been made today (July 28) to release three players from the academy. These players do have the right to appeal the club’s decision. Portsmouth Football Club are fully committed to the elimination of all forms of discrimination.”

Portsmouth came under fire after the three teenagers were caught posting racial abuses to the England stars in a WhatsApp group chat after the Euro 2020 final.

Rashford & Sancho have both received support from all over after being victims of racism after that game, with the duo also promising to come back stronger from that defeat and not allow the abuse affect them.
