All ins and outs Man United could make in August – transfer round-up

As we move into August, the summer transfer window also moves into its final month. On August 31, the transfer window will shut – as teams have to complete all their business before that day. With just under a month remaining for that, Man United have to hurry to finish their desired deals.

Until now, the Red Devils have had a pretty solid summer transfer window. They’ve signed two world-class players in Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, while also adding Tom Heaton to their squad for free. However, United still want to complete a few more deals before the window shuts.

Most of that involves selling some unnecessary players. Moreover, United reportedly have to sell first, after which they’ll be able to sign more players. So here’s all the deals United could make in August.

OUTS

Diogo Dalot

AC Milan remains interested in signing Diogo Dalot on loan from United next season.

However, the Red Devils want a loan fee of £3m-£4m, as well as the option to buy next summer. The clubs are continuing negotiations over the deal with hope to reach a compromise soon.

Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard has featured heavily in United’s pre-season campaign so far, but there still remain questions over his future.

With the Red Devils aiming to sign a new midfielder this summer, they might have to sell Lingard to get the necessary funds.

West Ham United remain interested, but a move to Atletico Madrid reportedly looks to be more probable this summer.

Brandon Williams

Brandon Williams is another player o have featured in every pre-season friendly for United so far.

But he’s unlikely to get that much game-time in the regular season, as it looks like a loan move could be on the cards for the youngster.

Norwich City are ‘poised to sign’ Williams on loan next season as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes a loan deal can benefit the defender.

Axel Tuanzebe

With Raphael Varane’s arrival, Axel Tuanzebe is also likely to be on his way out of United.

Newcastle United are one of the many Premier League clubs that reportedly wants to sign him on a loan deal, which the Red Devils would happily sanction. It could take some time, but Tuanzebe should seal a loan move before the end of the window.

Andreas Pereira

Andreas Pereira has indicated in recent interviews that he’s ready to leave United this summer.

However, the Red Devils reportedly want £20m to sell him and aren’t keen on a loan move.

With Lazio and Fenerbahce both said to be interested, United will hope one those clubs budge in to their demands and take away Andreas before the end of the window.

Paul Pogba

There remains a lot of confusion over the future of Paul Pogba. While United are still talking to his representatives over a new deal,

Pogba is constantly being linked to a summer move to PSG. The Frenchman could opt to play another season and leave for free next summer, because United are quite desperate to keep a hold of him this season.

INS

Kieran Trippier

United are still trying to gain the funds needed to sign Kieran Trippier, with Atletico Madrid refusing to budge on their £30m+ valuation of him.

The Englishman is keen on a return to England and is ready to wait it out for a transfer to materialize late into the window.

If United are able to gain funds from Dalot’s departure (on loan or permanent basis), they should make a ploy for Trippier and could get it done due to the Atletico right-back’s ‘enthusiasm’ to join them.

Eduardo Camavinga

Eduardo Camavinga is one player Man United are especially interested to fill their void in the defensive midfield position.

The Rennes midfielder is reportedly interested in a move to Old Trafford, but the Red Devils are ready to ‘play hardball’ over the move.

If United are able to sell Pereira for a decent profit, they can use those funds to sign Camavinga – even if needed so late into the window.

POSITIONS TO STRENGTHEN

Defensive midfield:

The defensive midfield position is the one United must work on strengthening before the window ends. Neither Fred nor Scott McTominay are natural-born defensive midfielders, while Nemanja Matic is well past his best.

An agile, hard-working defensive midfielder can greatly aid the backline as well as free Paul Pogba & Bruno Fernandes to cause havoc in midfield.

It can also help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deploy his 4-3-3 formation to ensure United play more exciting, attacking football this season.

Right-back:

While not an urgent need, but United do need a right-back to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka this season. The young Englishman needs someone to get the best out of him, as Alex Telles did with Luke Shaw last season.

Trippier can be a very good alternative to Wan-Bissaka because of his attacking qualities & experience. Having two quality right-backs can help Solskjaer rotate his team and try out new variations, making United more unpredictable.
