Gary Neville: 'If Manchester City had Harry Kane, Premier League is done'

Speaking to Sky Sports, Gary Neville said: "We've rightly praised Manchester City's recruitment over the past few years and Pep Guardiola gets the best out of them, but to not get a centre forward over the last few years has been a surprise.

"With Edin Dzeko and then Sergio Aguero leaving, it's not as if it's come as a shock. Gabriel Jesus hasn't quite been trusted by Pep and they didn't go all the way for Harry Kane. I know Pep likes to play with a team of midfielders.

"But there is that doubt that exists only through them lacking a striker. If Manchester City had Kane, I'm telling you now this league is done. It would be done. He's gold, so he'd remove any doubt that I have about Man City."

Man City are currently playing without a dedicated no.9 after failing agree a deal with Tottenham for the transfer of Kane in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United were also linked with a move for the Spurs striker but the Red Devils have opted to focus their efforts on bringing Erling Haaland to Old Trafford.
