5 young players who deserve to feature against Crystal Palace

Man United are set to play a vital final game of the Premier League season against Crystal Palace on 22 May, 2022.

The Red Devils need to win the game to guarantee a place in the Europa League next season and a 6th place finish.

If they drop points against Palace and West Ham go on to defeat Brighton, United would finish in the 7th place and play in the Conference League next season.

Ralf Rangnick could look to give some of the vibrant young talents who shone in the FA Youth Cup win for United’s U18s side in the Palace game. Here we look at some.

Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho was the star of the show in the FA Youth Cup final win over Nottingham Forest, scoring a brace in the 3-1 victory.

With Anthony Elanga and Marcus Rashford going through rough patches, Rangnick can give Garnacho a start. Alejandro’s fiery style can help trouble the Palace defenders and light up United’s attack.

Kobbie Mainoo

Kobbie Mainoo’s heroics against Forest got many fans calling him an ideal replacement for Paul Pogba.

The 17-year-old midfielder helped create some nice chances in the FA Youth Cup final and showcased commendable maturity with his distribution and ball-winning skills. He can help bring that spark against Palace and bring new life to United’s midfield.

Alvaro Fernandez

While he didn’t feature in the FA Youth Cup final, Alvaro Fernandez deserves his reward for enjoying a stellar 2021/22 campaign for United’s U23 side. He won the U23 Player of the Year award for his impressive performances at left-back.

With Alex Telles going through a bad spell, it wouldn’t be that big a risk to give Fernandez a go and help energize United’s movement from down the left-wing.

Daniel Gore

Daniel Gore helped run the show for United U18s in the FA Youth Cup final, shining in a game when Garnacho and Charlie McNeill were heavily marked.

His stellar movement through midfield, creativity and passing range helped him look more mature than the others. Gore can be rewarded for his heroics at the youth level with some minutes against Palace if Rangnick wants to switch up the midfield line.

Hannibal Mejbri

Many United fans have been left perplexed over why Hannibal Mejbri hasn’t featured since his fiery cameo in the 4-0 loss to Liverpool.

Hannibal is fit and deserves to prove himself before the end of the season. Rangnick can bring a bit more aggression, passion, and creativity to his side by playing Mejbri in midfield and letting him run riot on the unsuspecting Palace defenders.
