Speaking on talkSPORT radio, former Premier League and Wales striker Dean Saunders said: "When Paul Pogba has to stand up to the plate and produce the goods he just gives the ball away too much.
"I just think back, is it N'Golo Kante? Does Kante make everyone he plays with look good? As soon as they leave Kante, they look bang average and maybe they thought he was better than he was.
"Pogba when he plays with Kante looks the part. David Luiz looked a player at Chelsea when Kante was in front of him. Nemanja Matic played at the side of him and looked like a world beater."
Pogba is set to officially leave Manchester United at the end of June after years of inconsistent performances and behind-the-scenes under different managers.
The 29-year-old is expected to re-join Juventus on a free transfer and the majority of Old Trafford fans won't be remembering the Frenchman fondly.
