Manchester United are considering a transfer for Daniel Bachmann from newly-relegated Watford this summer, The Athletic reports.

Bachmann, 27, played just 12 times in the Premier League last season and is far from being the Hornets' first-choice keeper. Which probably makes you wonder why he's a target for United.

The Red Devils are looking for a replacement for Dean Henderson, who is expected to leave on a permanent transfer.

After not starting a single Premier League game in 2021/22, the 25-year-old is eager to leave in hopes of playing regularly.

While Bachmann will play pre-season with Watford, United chiefs believe he'd be ideal for a back-up role to David De Gea.

If Henderson leaves, United will only have Tom Heaton as De Gea's back-up following the departure of Lee Grant on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, The Athletic further adds that Watford are interested in signing Henderson permanently but the Englishman is unlikely to prefer joining a Championship side.

It looks like this will be yet another disappointing transfer window for the Red Devils, who are yet to make significant progress on new signings so far.
