Manchester United are interested in bringing in ex-Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards to Old Trafford, claims the Daily Mail.

The Red Devils are keen on making him their own sporting director and help with future transfers after the departure of Matt Judge.

But, United face competition from Chelsea for the transfer guru, with the Blues also looking to insert him into their new-look management.

Edwards is regarded as one of the best directors in England and was influential in making many prolific signings for Liverpool in the last decade.

He was the one responsible for securing the signing of the likes of Thiago, Andy Robertson, Fabinho, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah to Liverpool for cheap prices.

More importantly, Edwards is also an expert in selling players. He helped sell many players for major profits at Liverpool – including Philippe Coutinho for over £105m to Barcelona.

It remains to be seen whether he is interested in joining United or if the Red Devils are able to convince him to join them over Chelsea or any other side.
