After the match in his podcast, Neville clarified his comments and explained: “I erred on to the slightly unprofessional side of commentary tonight when I said that the kid (Mejbri) to be fair I was proud of him because he was going around trying to top people and trying to kick people.

“But he demonstrated something, he showed something. He didn’t like the idea of Liverpool, at Anfield, passing it around him and the idea of Liverpool taking the mick out of him and his team-mates.

“At least he demonstrated something. I am not saying it is brilliant because he could have hurt the Liverpool players, but as a Manchester United fan you can respond to that.”

Mejbri was praised by many United fans for showing some desire during his short cameo, in which he clattered Liverpool players and nearly got himself sent off.

A lot of supporters want Hannibal and some of the other talented U-21 players to start the remaining 

 games for the Red Devils after being disgusted by recent performances.

Almost every single player let the team down on the day, producing some awful performances and showing no desire to win the game.

 was introduced late into the game and showcased some admirable passion for his side.

He clattered the Liverpool players with some nasty challenges and nearly got himself sent off.

The sheer desire and work rate put in by Hannibal under dismal circumstances impressed United fans, who hailed him on Twitter.
