Erik ten Hag was in attendance at Man United U21's 1-1 draw against West Ham United U21 on Friday.
This only came a day after he helped the Red Devils defeat FC Sheriff in the Europa League.
Ten Hag was accompanied by his assistant coach Mitchell van der Gaag, technical director Darren Fletcher and deputy football director Andy O’Boyle.
The Athletic has highlighted four young players he might’ve watched closely in the game. We look at some points from their excerpt.
Kobbie Mainoo
The 17-year-old midfielder is mature beyond his years and has been likened to Pogba in the past. Against West Ham, Mainoo looked sharp in the middle – dictating the tempo of the game as well as testing the goalkeeper with two attempts. He is regarded as a highly talented young prodigy who could be making his debut under Ten Hag soon.
Charlie Savage
The midfielder was impressive in United’s pre-season campaign, but hasn’t featured with the senior team once the Premier League started. He’s been playing with the U21s side and was playing on Friday too. Savage had a ‘quiet game’ by his standards, but is known to be a magnet for the ball and sturdy in breaking up play.
Omari Forson
The young winger made quite the impression with the senior team manager watching, as he was arguably United’s bes attacking player. The creative midfielder worked really hard to get into the right areas and scored the equalizer by being in the right place at the right time and bundling home from close range.
Charlie McNeil
After making his United debut in the Europa League against Real Sociedad, McNeil is back playing regularly for the U21 side. The Athletic adds that the forward worked really hard out of possession, helping with regaining possession and opening up space for his teammates. McNeil was unable to score, but is being tipped to continue his impressive development this season.
