"I found out [about Casemiro joining Manchester United] long before both clubs announced it," explained Fred in an interview with TNT Sports Brasil.
"A few months before, we had already spoken, he and I. We had a nice conversation, Casemiro asked me how I was here, I explained everything to him."
The midfielder continued: "He liked the project, he thought it would be great and he decided to join us.
"And as I said, we are on a good way. We are winning some games, we have already defeated some of the members of the Big Six.
"For me It's a pleasure to be able to play alongside Casemiro. He's one of Manchester United's great players."
Casemiro has slowly but firmly established himself as the defensive midfielder fans were crying out for.
The 30-year-old has the ability to get the best out of those playing next to him, as seen in the cases of both Fred and Scott McTominay.
Case has played 15 times across competitions this season, even scoring and assisting a goal apiece in the Premier League.
