"I think with Marcus, first of all it's great to see him back playing with a smile on his face," Wayne Rooney told talkSPORT about Marcus Rashford's surprise comeback to the England squad for the World Cup.
"Over these last 18 months or two years, it looks as though he's had the troubles of the world on his shoulders.
"He looks like he's back in a good place on and off the pitch. He's playing freely and he's a fantastic player.
"I think he will have a huge impact on the tournament. It's great for Manchester United and England to have him on form, back scoring goals and enjoying playing football again."
Still, when asked to name the front three England should have at the World Cup, Rooney did not name Rashford among them.
"[Phil] Foden, [Bukayo] Saka and Harry Kane. With those three, you have got the likes of Rashford and [Raheem] Sterling to come on and have an impact."
Rashford has been joined by Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw in the Three Lions squad.
The 25-year-old has scored eight goals for Man United across all competitions which is already more than he had last season.
