Explained: Maguire to miss England's next game vs USA and he may not even be injured

Harry Maguire may be unavailable for England's next World Cup game against the United States on Friday. The Man United skipper impressed in the 6-2 win over Iran before being forced off in the 70th minute.

Maguire suffered suspected concussion and this may well spell the end of his presence in the group stage due to strict concussion protocols.

It says that a player should have 10 days without playing before they can be considered for a return to action. However, it is still unclear if Maguire's case was actually concussion.

The FIFA website also explains extra protocols they have used, stating: "For the first time at a FIFA World Cup, an independent Concussion Assessment and Rehabilitation Service will be offered in Qatar to provide an evidence-based assessment of any player who has suffered a brain injury, including recommendations from concussion experts regarding the player's return to play."
