United hope Amad can establish himself as first-team player after Sunderland loan - MEN

Man United are optimistic that Amad Diallo will be able to establish himself as a first-team regular at Old Trafford after the loan spell at Sunderland, according to the Manchester Evening News.

After a tough start, Diallo has started to flourish in the North East, scoring three goals and providing an assist in the last five games and becoming a regular starter for the Championship side.

A source at Man United believes Amad needed 'a run of 10 games' to showcase his talents, something he was never given at Old Trafford or during his previous loan spell at Rangers.

United have a January recall clause for the 20-year-old, but it would make sense for the Ivorian to stay at Sunderland to play regularly.

Amad was signed for £19m rising to £37m from Atalanta in October 2020. He has so far only made nine appearances for the Red Devils, scoring one goal in the Europa League.
