'He did a great job at Palace and Arsenal': Ten Hag happy to see Wout Weghorst score first Man United goal

Speaking after the Nottingham Forest game on Wednesday, Erik ten Hag said: "It's important for Wout Weghorst and for his confidence that he scored that goal.

"He did a great job at Crystal Palace and Arsenal with his pressing, targets and movements. He was part of Bruno Fernandes' goal at Palace.

"He was part of Marcus Rashford's goal at Arsenal. But strikers are there to score goals and when they don't score they're not happy."

Weghorst got on the scoresheet in the 3–0 win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday with Manchester United all but securing a ticket to Wembley.

The 30-year-old striker is unlikely to stay at Old Trafford beyond his six-month loan spell with the Red Devils focused on finding a permanent attacking option for the future.
