Casemiro – 10, Antony – 8: rating Man United players in Reading win

Casemiro – 10

Casemiro was a class apart on the day and could do no wrong. Moved the ball around efficiently, contributed defensively and made the difference in the scoring. Scored his first after a brilliant run into the box and second with a great long-range effort.

Antony – 8

The Brazilian winger turned up the style under pressure. His delivery was spot on and he bamboozled defenders with his touches and passes. Antony created four big chances, including setting up the opener with a brilliant pass into the box. Went close to scoring a few times, too.

Fred – 7.5

In a day for the Brazilians, even the substitute managed to shine through. Fred came on in the second half and made instant impact, assisting Casemiro’s second. He then got into the scoring himself, producing an amazing flicked close-range finish. Lively and impactful as a sub.

Bruno was lively in that advanced position and often got into the ideal positions to make things happen. Had a few efforts go just wide, but he also created some major chances with delightful delivery. Assisted Fred’s goal with a clever short corner routine.

In his return to the starting XI, Maguire put up a good showing for himself. Pretty stable at the back and moved the ball forward really well. Defensively sharp, making four clearances and two interceptions.

Rashford was unlucky to see his record-setting goal ruled out. Created some exciting moments with his trickery after that, but unable to set up anything major against the low-level opposition.
