Emir of Qatar wants to buy Man United for £4.5 billion but will need UEFA to change its rules

According to The Guardian the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani wants to buy 

The Glazer family's asking price is £6 billion but the emir believes £4.5 billion is a more realistic price.

A key component of any potential deal would be the UEFA rules that prevents any one entity from having two clubs in the same competition.

 through the Qatar Sports Investments group and according to the current regulations he likely would not be able to own Man United as they are close to making it into the Champions League next season.

A possible solution is being sought for this problem and could include asking UEFA to change their rule.

Instead, it is is expected to be a group of private, high-wealth individuals based in the oil-rich state of Qatar.

The Glazers are reported to be looking for at least £6 billion for selling the club and the Qatari bid would have more than sufficient funds to afford that.

Another major investment in the buying of the club would be the redevelopment of Old Trafford which is expected to be affordable for the bidders as well.

Their main contender is likely to be Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a childhood Man United fan and Britian's richest man, who was the first to publicly announce his interest in buying the club.

While competition to buy ManU is high, I am against the Sheikhs owning the club because they will another Glazers who wants fame and fortune riding on ManU's marketability for their respective interests. I hope a real fan and childhood fan of ManU Sir Richard Racliffe be the eventual owner pf the Red Devils!
