An official statement reads: "We have decided not to appeal against Casemiro's red card. The club decided there was not a high chance of being able to overturn the ban on appeal."

The Brazilian himself had this to say: "The referee, the fans, they see there is no malice. I always try to get the ball. I always go strong because that is who I am, and I like the intensity that I play with, but there is no malice."

Speaking to the media about Sunday's game, 

 is a player who's very important for us. He brings balance to the team and to the squad.

"But we have a great squad and we have to find another balance without him, but we have good players in every position on the pitch and we're ready for the next games.”

"I think he was very disappointed because nobody wants to get out of the pitch before the end. We can't be happy with the decision he takes but that's part of football."

Casemiro was sent off during the first half of the goalless draw against

Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher says it was the right call to send 

“I think definitely. He lunges in, skims the top of the ball and catches his opponent hard on his shin," he told  Sky Sports News Ref Watch.

“I think he’s lost control of his body. He’s reaching for the ball, he’s mistimed it. The result is a bad tackle.”

Gallagher said there was no argument to say Casemiro won the ball. “I don’t think he did win the ball. He got a touch on the top of the ball.”

When asked about a penalty appeal for Bruno Fernandes and a handball appeal on Armel Bella-Kotchap, he added:  “One of the strangest incidents I’ve seen. It strikes his chest first of all.”

He said that he felt Bella-Kotchap tried to move his arm away from the ball rather than towards it, commenting: “I just can’t see a penalty being given.”

i think United should walk away if they found referee isn't protecting their players. two of our players are injured because referee didn't protected our players. also they are very inconsistent with their policies not in one match but in other matches as well. they should peace fully protect their players.

That will be a waste of time.. Nothing favours us out there. The players just have to play with caution. Referees are never on our side even when our players are bullied and injured 😐

It would be a waste of time anyway. Don’t forget it’s a Man Utd player we are talking about here. The verdict would have been decided long before the appeal was even launched. This is the most corrupt system in foot.
