After the announcement, a lot of tributes and appreciation have been pouring in for Zlatan to celebrate his amazing career.

Man United also posted a nice little tribute video that detailed his best moments at Old Trafford during the two-season spell.

The Swedish forward made 53 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 29 goals and providing 10 assists – while also helping them win the Carabao Cup and Europa League in 2016/17 season.

Ibrahimovic puts an end to a truly memorable career that spanned over 20 years and saw him score 496 goals in 827 competitive club games – as well as 62 international goals.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic played without ACL in his knee for 6 months to help Milan win first league title in 11 years

 has revealed on Instagram that he played through serious pain to help 

The Swede wrote: "I played without an ACL in my knee. Swollen knee for six months. I was only able to train with the team 10 times in the last six months. Took more than 20 injections in six months.

"Emptied the knee once a week for six months. Painkillers every day for six months. Barely slept for six months because of the pain. Never suffered so much on and off the pitch.

"I made something impossible to something possible. In my mind I had only one objective, to make my teammates and coach champions of Italy because I made them a promise. Today I have a new ACL and another trophy."

Ibrahimovic, who has recently underwent knee surgery to fix his ACL, could be sidelined for up to eight months.

It remains to be seen whether the 40-year-old striker can recover from this injury at this stage of his career and continue playing.

Zlatan has made 24 top-flight appearances for Milan, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists to help them win their first league title in over a decade.

 from 2013-2016, their former teammate Michael Ciani told RMC Sport: “If you are close to Cavani, Ibra does not like it. Either you are with Ibra, or you are against him.

“He told me that everything was fine with [then-manager] Laurent Blanc at PSG. The only person he did not get along with was Cavani.

“He told me that he only hated three or four people in his career... and one of them was Cavani.”

Cavani played alongside Ibra for three seasons at PSG, in which the French side won the Ligue 1 title in every single campaign. 

 on a free transfer, helping the Red Devils win two titles in his first season and scoring 28 goals in his first season.

Edinson enjoyed a prolific first season at Old Trafford too, scoring 17 goals, but has struggled with injury issues all through this campaign.

If only the players at Utd have the the poise, swag, temperament and  mindset for winning as Zlatan, I don't think they will go into any match with an inferiority complex. Thanks for your service while you were at Utd @Ibrahimovic. You are a winner anytime and a legend of Old Trafford. Enjoy your retirement and know that football will sure miss your antics.
