Some Man United fans believe it would have been best for Erik ten Hag to work under a director of football like Ralf Rangnick.
In a recent interview, Gary Neville lamented that United "have again allowed the manager to influence the signings".
Reports claimed that Ten Hag refused a face-to-face meeting with Rangnick when he was appointed last year.
It was also learnt that the Dutchman granted Rangnick only a phone call to discuss club matters after the German’s spell as interim coach concluded.
Now Reds supporters say they missed a big opportunity to keep German in a different role which would have reduced Ten Hag's control of the club.
Rami: "Rangnick era > Ten Hag era"
Alan Shithole: "People realising the importance of Rangnick a long time after he is gone when they failed to buy into his ideology when he was still with us. Anyone with a football brain should have realized then what the man was working towards. Too late now."
The Ruler: "The Ten fraud Hag stans will always find reasons to support their FRAUD con man!! Go to YouTube and watch him talking about Ralf Rangnick's role as a constant in his first-ever presser. He said "I USE MY HEAD, I MAKE MY DECISIONS"
Jade Elvis: "I know people despise him, but I really feel like we missed a massive opportunity to make Rangnick DOF to work in tandem with Erik."
Zone14Analystics: "Perhaps keeping Rangnick would have been wise then".
United haven't started this season as hoped. Currently 13th in the Premier League, they've picked up just two wins from five games.
