Martinez, Varane out: Potential return dates for 9 Man United players before Liverpool game

Man United faced even more additions to their injury list after the harrowing 4-3 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League.

Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans both had to be substituted due to injuries, causing a major shortage of options in the centre-back area for Erik ten Hag.

Here is a look at Man United’s current injury pile-up and potential dates when they could be expected to be back.

The Frenchman picked up another injury in the loss to Chelsea and was seen badly hobbling towards the end of the first half. He is unlikely to be able to make it for the Liverpool clash.

Potential return date: Unknown

Evans was seemingly rushed back from injury and picked up a knock a few minutes into his cameo against the Blues. At his age, the 37-year-old could have problems returning to action anytime soon.

Potential return date: Unknown

Casemiro apparently ended up getting injured against Chelsea too, but his knock is reportedly not as bad as the other two. He will, however, be in a race against time to start the Liverpool game.

Potential return date: April

When Martial underwent surgery on a groin issue in late January, Man United indicated that he’d be out for 10 weeks. Well, that is almost close to ending – meaning that the Frenchman might return later this month – even though there’s no guarantee he ever plays here again.

Potential return: vs Coventry City (April 21)

The Turkish goalkeeper has been struggling with an injury issue over the last few weeks but was recently seen back in training. Despite that, he’s anyhow unlikely to play anymore this season.

Potential return date: vs Liverpool (April 7)

Martinez ended up picking up a knock in training recently, causing even more frustrations in what has already been an injury-prone season. He is not expected to play any more games this month.

Potential return date: May

Similar to Licha, Lindelof is also confirmed to be out until May after he sustained a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw against Brentford.

Potential return date: May

Erik ten Hag recently hinted that he is optimistic about Shaw’s chances of playing again this season. The Englishman will be desperate to gain fitness before Euro 2024 and can play in the final matches of the season.

Potential return date: May

The Dutch full-back has not played a single game this season and his injury nightmare has caused Man United to search for a new left-back in the summer. He is unlikely to play any part this season.

Potential return date: July

Thank you for the questions. Because he is a breed who can challenge ETH's buys. He doesn't like UNITED breeds, except when he has no choice. He sold out most of our potentials and brought in mediocre. Where is Marlasia or Malaria they called him. He can't improve modern players (even older ones) because he lacks the capacity to manage gifted people. By now I am sure we are getting to understanding the contents of CR7 interview. If we make a mistake to retain this manager beyond summer, we are in serious problem. GGM

Many of our players are sold and doing well at other clubs while others are kept due to ETH connection with them.
